Who we are and what we do

CBS: “Facts that matter”

Statistics Netherlands (CBS)

In a society where the amount of information is growing explosively, free access to reliable and integral data is crucial. As the national statistical office, CBS produces reliable statistical information and data that provide insight into social issues, thus supporting the public debate, policy development and decision-making while contributing to prosperity, well-being and democracy.

We distinguish ourselves by being unusually strong in growth, unusually broad in diversity and culture and unusually important in our field.

Working opportunities

The office environment at CBS – with offices located in The Hague, Heerlen and on Bonaire - is a pleasant mix of government and business. You will find a very diverse group of employees who range widely in age, nationality, discipline and career. One thing all our employees have in common is their focus on the quality of our research results. Would you like to learn more and/or apply? Workshop

Spoken language: Dutch

“Facts that matter”

Our work has an enormous social and economic impact. Based on our independent and reliable information, important policy decisions are taken in The Hague as well as in Brussels. Provinces, municipalities and businesses, but also individual citizens benefit from the results of our research.

Every single day, these results make national news headlines.
In this workshop, we use interesting examples to show you how the Dutch economy can be analysed using figures compiled by CBS. You will be challenged to assume the role of researcher, editor or spokesperson at CBS.

Do you want to find out how to make economic figures accessible for the general public and what CBS can offer you in terms of career opportunities?

Come visit us, you are very welcome!
