The North Sea Canal area is densely populated and very active. This will only increase in the coming years. Residents, employers, employees and recreationists: everyone benefits from the region being and remaining safe and liveable. Everyone has their own responsibility in this, but the government also plays a role.

• How do we encourage companies to take more sustainable measures?
• How do we prevent nuisance caused by odor or noise to local residents?
• How do we limit the risks posed by companies that work with hazardous substances?

We strive for this every day. By granting (environmental) permits, providing advice and ensuring that the companies in our work area comply with their (legal) obligations in the field of the environment, soil and construction.

We do this on behalf of eight municipalities and three provinces, which confidently leave the implementation of environmental law to us.
