Vandebron is an energy marketplace with a special aim: to make the energy market clearer, more transparent and more sustainable. The idea for Vandebron came into being in 2013 when Remco Wilcke, Matthijs Guichelaar and Aart van Veller wanted to know why they could not just buy their electricity from a windmill owner. In other sectors it was very innovative startups already very common to get in direct contact with the provider. ‘What if we were to make old-fashioned energy companies superfluous, by enabling people not to buy their energy from a sustainable producer?’ Was the question. Time for a solution.
What are we doing?
Very simple: local energy sources generate sustainable energy with their wind turbines, solar panels from bio-digesters. Instead of a large percentage of their profits to large energy companies, they can increase the revenue from their profits. To invest in even more sustainable energy, for example. And what does Vandebron do? Vandebron is the energy service provider, who added you with your own energy source. As a customer you choose where you are going with energy and where your money goes. Because choosing where your energy comes from is not that normal?
