AI is revolutionizing the way we grow our food at a fast pace. From farm to fork - every link in the value chain will become data-driven. VanBoven plays an important role in this transition by providing vegetable farmers with the tools needed to develop accurate harvest predictions. This information is crucial to producers, distributors, wholesalers, industry and retailers in order to optimize the value chain and reduce food waste.
VanBoven develops harvest predictions based on high-resolution aerial imagery. Our algorithms identify every single plant on the field and extract physical plant traits using object-based image analysis. By tracking these traits over time we create predictive models for plant growth and time to harvest.
VanBoven is a startup, founded in 2018 and based in The Hague. We have a team of ~8FTE engineers with mixed backgrounds – computer science, remote sensing, maths and AI. Engineers, working students and (thesis) interns work happily together in what is officially known as “the most fun team in the galaxy”.
VanBoven develops AI-algorithms in-house that can identify and analyze individual plants in drone recordings. These algorithms are trained using data we gather from our farmer-customers. We are currently developing algorithms to automatically detect and measure broccoli’s in the imagery, and building a data pipeline for automated data processing.
Over the next years we will improve our vision algorithms, develop our predictive powers and expand our customer base internationally.
VanBoven is looking for bright students, researchers and engineers who have experience working with data, software development and/or AI. We have job openings for Data Engineers and Machine Learning Engineers, as well as multiple interesting internship and thesis assignments for students with relevant backgrounds. Finally we are looking for part-time students who support us in the summer with data-analysis and customer support.
